My wife gave birth to our daughter in early June of 2009. Two months later we quit our jobs, packed our belongings, and moved 700 miles away from friends and family to Phoenix, Arizona so that I could attend graduate. Needless to say, our lives were never quite the same.
As all new parents know, time together becomes a rare and increasingly distant memory. Missing the one-on-one time we once had, I began making photographs of my wife during our daughter’s brief and infrequent naps. We would grab the view camera, my last box of type-55, and use our only twenty-minutes to make some photographs together. The image-making process acting as a peaceful pause in out otherwise, turbulent lives. As time passed and our daughter grew, she too worked her way into the photographs.
